Road Resurfacing-Meadow Lake Subdivision, Kumquat Drive (SR 442 - 16th St.), Willow Oak Drive (SR 442 - 36th St.)
2023 ROAD RESURFACING PROJECTS
Meadow Lake Subdivision,
Kumquat Drive from SR 442-16th Street, and
Willow Oak Drive from SR 442 TO 36th Street
START DATE: OCTOBER 24, 2023
The City of Edgewater has contracted with Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. to apply high performance micro surfacing in Meadow Lake Subdivision and Kumquat Drive from SR 442 - 16th Street. Roads to be resurfaced in Meadow Lake Subdivision: Meadow Lake Drive, Pinebreeze Drive, and Cloveridge Court.
The City of Edgewater has contracted with P&S Paving to mill and pave Willow Oak Drive from SR 442 to 36th Street.
The road resurfacing should take two-three days. All road resurfacing will be done one lane at a time, as much as possible, to leave a lane open for travel and will be coordinated and directed by traffic control specialists onsite.
The high performance micro surfacing consists of granite aggregate and polymerized asphalt emulsion that acts as a protective layer for the underlying asphalt pavement. The finish will be highly durable and aesthetically attractive.
Here are a few things that residents can do to help make this resurfacing go smoothly and perform at its highest for years to come.
*Directly after paving and for a few days thereafter, try to limit turning your wheels on the new surface while not in motion.
*Turning while the vehicle is moving will prevent what are known as power steering burns on your newly paved roads, and is good practice in the future to prolong tire life.
*If you do notice power steering marks, do not worry. These blemishes are strictly aesthetic and fade over time.
*Please allow up to 6 months for the final surface to wear in and become uniform and look aesthetically pleasing.
*Make sure no vehicles, boats, trailers etc, are parked on or near the roadway between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
*Don’t place garbage or debris in the road the days of resurfacing.
*Turn off all irrigation systems for this days of resurfacing, starting at midnight the night before. Micro surfacing performs best when placed on a dry surface, and often irrigation systems wet the roadway. Feel free to resume normal irrigation on the following day after micro surfacing has been completed.
