Field Operations

The Field Operations Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the field components for the drinking water, wastewater and reclaimed water systems throughout the City.

Included in the operation and maintenance:

• Monitor approximately 10,000 water meters to ensure accuracy and equitable service to the customer.
• Maintain approximately 700 fire hydrants which include routine flushing, testing, and painting to ensure proper flow, pressure and visibility for emergency personnel.
• Maintain approximately 200 miles of water distribution, reclaimed water, and wastewater collection lines.
• Inspection of residential and commercial water systems.
• Installation of water and sewer lines, force mains, and meters.
• Cross connection control and backflow prevention testing to maintain the integrity of the potable water system.
• Provides 365 days a year/24 hours a day emergency service.
