When is my yard waste collected?

Bagged or contained yard waste is collected once weekly on Wednesday, except for holiday weeks. Do NOT use your recycling bin for yard waste it will NOT get picked up.

Loose laying yard waste will be picked up approximately twice a month on a continual route system. Place your loose laying yard waste along street/curb not blocking your mailbox, driveway, drainage swale/ditch area in front of your own home. Please do not make pile larger than 4'x4'x4' any pile over the 4'x4'x4' limit will have an additional charge.

When should I place my garbage/recycling container to the street/curb?

Containers must be out by 7:00 a.m. the day of collection. Containers may be placed to the street/curb the evening before your regular scheduled collection day. All containers must be removed from the street area no later than 11:00 p.m. on your collection day.

When will inspections be done?

Inspections will be performed Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. by appointment only. 

When will Mosquito Control be spraying in my area?

Mosquito Control is managed by the County of Volusia.  More information can be obtained by calling 386-424-2920 or on their website.

Where can I get a birth or death certificate?

Birth and death certificates can be obtained from the Volusia County Health Department located at 845 Holsenback Drive, Daytona Beach.  They can be reached at 386-276-0614.

Where can I get a copy of a deed?

Deeds are filed with the Volusia County Clerk of Court.  Copies can be obtained from the New Smyrna Beach Courthouse, 124 N. Riverside Drive, New Smyrna Beach or by visiting www.clerk.org.   They can be reached at 386-423-3304.

Where can I get a driver’s license or identification card?

Where can I get a marriage license?

Marriage licenses can be obtained from the Volusia County Clerk of Court. They can be reached at 386-423-3304.

Where can I obtain a business license?

Business licenses, now called Business Tax Receipts, can be obtained from the Finance Department located inside City Hall or by going to the website page "Starting a Business".  You can contact them at 386-424-2400 ext. 1305.

Where can I recycle other items?
  1. Plastic bags should be returned to your local grocery store for recycling.
  2. Styrofoam meat trays and egg cartons can be returned to Publix for recycling.
  3. Cell phones may be dropped off at the Public Works Facility at 409 Mango Tree Drive. It will be sent to the non-profit organization Cell Phone for Soldiers. They recycle the cell phone and buy calling cards for our Soldiers.
  4. Rechargeable batteries may be dropped off at the Public Works Facility at 409 Mango Tree Drive. These are recycled through the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation at no cost to the City.
  5. Clothing, toys, working appliances, miscellaneous household items you no longer want or need? We suggest you consider alternative ways of disposing of your unwanted items. Remembering that one person's unwanted item is another person's desire.
  • Be charitable and donate your useable items to a local thrift store.
  • Utilizing your local consignment shop is another great way to dispose of your unwanted items while earning a few dollars at the same time.
  •  Some items may be great for nursing homes, schools, and churches.

Who is responsible for registering the property?

The property owner is responsible for obtaining a Business Tax Receipt and Certificate of Use.

Who owns the water meter?

The City of Edgewater owns the meter and the backflow prevention assembly as well as the pipes connecting them to our system. The property owner owns from the outside of the backflow prevention assembly into the building or home and is responsible for repair and maintenance.

Who performs the inspections?

The City of Edgewater Residential Rental Inspector or designee will perform all required residential rental inspections. 

Why did the City propose and approve these moratoriums?

This Florida Shores Drainage Basin Moratorium will provide time for the city to review the impacts of Hurricane Ian and the storm event on September 14, 2024. The City Wide Moratorium will allow the City to update the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development code.
