What is a Monthly "Utility" Bill and what does the money get used for?

The City of Edgewater provides a monthly utility bill.  It is often confused as a “water bill” when it is compared to other nearby communities’ monthly water bills. Your monthly utility bill is all inclusive (water, sewer, stormwater, garbage and recycling). In other cities many of these services are billed separately through annual tax assessment.

What happens if I don't receive a bill?

You should receive your bill around the same time every month. You may call the Utility Customer Service office at (386) 424-2400 Ext. 4000 to get your balance for payment. You may also access the automatic phone feature (386) 427-3279. Failure to receive your bill will not avoid disconnection of service.

What are e-Notifications or e-Bills?

As part of our effort to "Go Green", the City offers e-Notifications (also called e-Bills). After initiating e-Notifications, the first month you will receive two bills by both e-mail and paper, and then your monthly bill will only be e-mailed to you. Please Fill out our Go Green Form  to start e-Notifications.

What occurs if my payment is late?

A late fee of 5% of your bill will be added to your account if payment is not received by the due date stated on your bill. There is a Disconnection Fee of $35 applied to the account if not paid 30 days from the statement date found at the top of the bill. If you have received a bill with the previous balance not yet paid, then the bill must be paid before the disconnect date, to avoid shut off.

How often will I be billed?

The City bills on a monthly basis. Payment is due within 20 days from the Statement date. If that date falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date will be moved to the next business day.
