Service Changes FAQs
To start service we will need to have:
- If owner:
- Copy of the signed settlement statement, warranty deed, or something that has been filed with the clerk of courts showing the change of hands.
- Copy of Driver's License.
- The copies can be faxed (386-424-2409) or in person (104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater, FL 32132).
- There is a $200 deposit and $35 service charge for Water and Sewer Service. $235 is the most to be paid, however, it could be less depending on your utility credit score.
- Please make sure to have the Garbage Cart on the outside of the house for verification.
- If tenant:
- Copy of your signed Lease Agreement.
- Tenant's Driver's License.
- The copies need to be brought down to City Hall (104 N. Riverside Drive, Edgewater, FL 32132).
- There is a $200 deposit and $35 service charge for Water and Sewer services. $235 is the most to be paid, however, it could be less depending on your utility credit score. You will need to have the full amount, on hand, or the water will be turned off and will not be restored until full payment of deposit and service charge is received. The Deposit and Service charge is due at time of sign up and will not be billed.

A $35.00 non-refundable fee will be charged to the new owner/tenant.
To reinstate service, your entire past due balance plus the $35 Disconnection Fee must be paid. Payment may be made with your Debit/Credit/Check on our web page, by phone through our automated phone system (credit/ Debit only), or by visiting our office in City Hall (all forms of payment accepted). To ensure that your turn on is processed in a timely manner you must speak to a Utility Customer Service Representative and inform them that your water has been turned off for non-payment and you have made payment. If payment is made by 3:30pm, your water will be restored the same day.
NOTE: A $35.00 non-payment fee will be charged to your account 30 days after the statement date. If the City has to go to your house for a second turn off after the first shut-off there will be a 2nd Shut-off fee added to your account.
In accordance to Florida Statute 119.071(5), the City of Edgewater's collection of social security numbers is imperative for the performance of its lawful duties and responsibilities.
Social security numbers collected by the City of Edgewater are considered confidential and may not be used by this agency for any purpose other than the purpose provided in this written statement.
The City of Edgewater collects social security numbers for one or more of the following purposes: bad debt collection; data collection; reconciliation; identification and verification; credit checks; classification of accounts; driver's license check; tracking; and for employment with the City of Edgewater: drug / alcohol testing and physicals; benefit processing; background checks; tax reporting; and police statements and arrests. Social security numbers are also used as a unique numeric identifier and may be used for search purposes.
