River Rescue Regatta - EDGEfest

River Rescue Regatta in Menard May Park: Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with Music, Vendors and Food.
EDGEfest events are fun for the whole family. Enjoy a CARDBOARD BOAT RACE, Guided Paddle Tour, Trash Art Contest, Games & Activities.
CARDBOARD BOAT RACE RULES & INFORMATION
TEAMS RACING FORMAT
• Race will begin at 12:30 p.m.
• Teams consist of 2-4 members.
• Children under 10 years old must wear a life jacket at all times.
• No swimming and/or pulling the boat will be allowed.
• The boat and crew must be mostly intact at the finish line.
• Awards will be presented for: speed, team spirit and best in show.
BOAT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
• Boats may be made at home or at the park. Some supplies will be provided at the event.
• Boats must be made ONLY of cardboard, duct tape, and paint. NO reinforced cardboard tubes, liners or tarps. Tubes may be used for paddles.
• Boats can only be a maximum of 5’ wide and 8’ long.
• Boats must be completely enclosed. No raft or surfboard styles allowed.
• Only paddles or arms can be used to propel the boat.
• An inspection will be done by the judges prior to the event.
**This event is intended to be just for good family, friendly fun!! Serious competitors need not participate. **
**ANY RULE NOT SPECIFICALLY COVERED ABOVE WILL BE LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGES**
Boaters can participate in the International Coastal Cleanup, with Volusia County, at Kennedy Park from, 8:00-11:00 a.m. Visit Volusia.org for more information.
